Hi! Today I’d want to present you my first tutorial for beginners. It is very simple and will help you in creating two color illustrations composed from one shape.
First of all let’s choose what to use as illustration. I made fish sketch. Go to File - New and create new document. Then go to File - Place and choose scan of our sketch.
Now lock the layer with skatch and create new one with pressing “New” icon on the Layers tab. Now we are going to make silhouette, so let’s set attributes of the pen tool as shown on the picture above. And now… we just need to create silhouette of the fish with "Pen tool". Create the path of the outer border.
Next step - createing of the scales. Make two circles by using "ellipse" tool and "shift" key. Copy it (press "Alt" and "Shift" kays and drug). Select both circles and open tab Pathefinder - Subtract - Expand.
Now we have one scales.
Create all other elements of the fish using Pen Tool and combine them into one (Pathefinder - Add to shape area - Expand).
Now we have only two objects - fish external silhouette and all other details combined into one object.
Select both of them and subtract one from other - Pathefinder - Subtract - Expand.
...add color...
Ready!
