How to create border with equal width around object
Hi! Sometime there is need to insert one object inside other and get the same border width around the object. Like on this image:

This object is simple but... what we can do if we have unexpected shape? Have a look:

Let's find out how we can create border like this:

You can say "We can just change size of the shape". Yes, we can, but the border will have different width. Have a look:

Let's start. First step - we need to create border with necessary width. Open "Stroke" tab and set value for "Weight" field.

Create shape. Go to "Object - Path - Outline Stroke".

Now we have two shapes.

Ungroup them....

... and Subtract using "Pathfinder" tab. Press "Expand".
IMPORTANT NOTE! Copy your object before Subtracting

Delete useless shape (black on the image below)

Align your objects.
